5. Requirements to enter firearms into Argentina (for hunting purposes only)
5.1 Temporary entry
All visitors who wish to enter the country with one or more firearms and the
corresponding ammunition in order to perform hunting activities, target
practice or for other legitimate purpose must book an appointment at the
Consulate General and apply personally, providing the following:
Valid passport
Shot Gun Certificate
One 4x4cm colour photograph
Information: type of firearm, brand, model, caliber and identification number, argentine Customs offices that will be involved and estimated length of stay in the country.The amount of firearms and ammunitions to be authorized must correspond to the purpose declared by the visitor.
When leaving the country, authorities will check if the visitor is in
possession of the firearms. Visitors will be asked to provide documentation to
justify any missing firearm.

5.2 Definite entry
All Argentine and Foreign permanent residents abroad arriving in Argentina to
reside permanently in the country must submit:
Documentation of the country of origin proving legitimate possession of the firearms to be entered or Argentine Consular Certificate with details of the material (contact the Consulate General for further information).
Foreigners must prove their residence status or permanent settlement in the Argentine Republic.
The granting of the Legítimo Usuario Individual de Armas de Fuego (Legitimate Individual User of Firearms) status, when meeting all the requirements of your category
A Form "Formulario Ley 23.979 04" type for each firearm must be dully
fulfilled.
Notice: the Entry Permit issued by RENAR will constitute the registration record
necessary to issue the corresponding Credencial de Tenencia, which must be
requested within ninety (90) days of arrival of the material in the country.
After that term, the authorized person will be liable to sanctions established
in the Firearms Law (confiscation, fine, etc.)
