Esteban Álvarez
(Buenos Aires, 1966)
Graduated from the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes Prilidiano Pueyrredón, Buenos Aires (1992), and obtained his Master’s Degree at Middlesex University (London, 2000). He was artist in residence at Gasworks (London, 2000) and participated at Hwei-Lann International Workshop (Taiwan, 2003). He received several awards including a second prize at II International Print Biennial (Colombia, 1998), and was granted scholarships by the British Council (1999), Fondo Nacional de las Artes (2002), Fundación Antorchas (2003) and Pollock-Krasner Foundation (New York, 2004). Alvarez participated in several exhibitions such as Biennial of the End of the World (Ushuaia, 2009); “Variation Time”, Kunsteverein, (Munich, 2009); Alucine Video Festival (Toronto, 2009); “El mundo y el Pantalón”, La Casa Encendida (Madrid, 2008); SAR07, Macro (Rosario, 2007); “Levity”, The Drawing Center, (New York, 2007); ACC Gallerie, Weimar (Germany, 2006); “Arte y Compromiso”, Museo de Arte Contemporáneo (MEIAC, Badajoz, Spain, 2005); PR04 (Puerto Rico, 2004); “False Impressions” (Colchester, England, 2003); Biennial of Contemporary Art of the Americas (Fortaleza, 2004); “Contemporáneo 1”, MALBA (Buenos Aires, 2002); “Unterwegs nach Timbuktu”, Ifa Galerie (Berlin, 2002), and Essex Gallery – UECLAA (Colchester, 2000). He lives and works in Buenos Aires.
