LONDON FESTIVAL of ARCHITECTURE 2008


Dates: 20 June-20 July, Monday to Friday 10am-1pm/2pm-5pm

As part of the London Festival of Architecture and in the context of the "Embassies Project" the exhibition ARDI (Architecture + Design) will feature the works of 15 Argentine architecture studios who collaborate closely with industrial designers.

GUILLERMO ROZENTHULER AT THE AAS GRAN ASADO

Venue: Esher Rugby Club (Hersham), Pillar Data Arena, 369 Molesey Road, Hersham, KT12 3PF

Argentine singer Guillermo Rozenthuler will be playing his vast original repertoire in occasion of the "Gran Asado" organized by the Anglo-Argentine Society at the Esher Rugby Club on 6July.

MISA CRIOLLA by ARIEL RAMIREZ : A lively summer evening, celebrating music from the Americas

Venue: St Paul's Covent Garden, WC2E 9ED

East London Chorus will peform Misa Criolla by Ariel Ramirez at St. Paul's Covent Garden on 12 July. Written by Argentinian composer Ariel Ramírez, the Misa Criolla is unique in that it combines the rhythms and traditions of various Argentinian and Bolivian folk styles with the traditional religious mass. Composed in 1963, this extraordinary choral work, sung in Spanish, has received worldwide critical acclaim.

MERCEDES SOSA IN LONDON

Argentina's greatest artist, Mercedes Sosa, will perform a one-off exclusive concert at indigO2 on Tuesday 15 July. Mercedes Sosa Joined by the creme of Argentine musicians will be playing her last release Corazon Libre. Her last album contains folk-repetoire classics like Zamba de Argamonte and Tonada del viejo amor, but focuses mainly on contemporary songs by Argentine poets and songwriters, who express a deep connection with nature and life.

THE WELSH-ARGENTINE GUITAR DUO

The Welsh-Argentine Guitar duo formed in 2005 by Luis Orias Diz (Argentina) and Adam Khan (Wales) will be presenting their Cd 'INTERLUDIO' which includes music by Leo Brouwer, Argentine composer Walter Heinze and British composers John Duarte and Steve Marsh.

NORTHLANDS CHOIR

Date: 4 August, 1.10 to 2pm

Venue: St James's Church Picadilly, 197 Piccadilly London W1J 9LL

Northlands Choir from Argentina, founded in 1979 and directed by Maestro Humberto Lopez will be performing at St James's Church Picadilly for a lunch time concert as part of their European tour. It is formed by 90 members, mostly women between 13 and 17 years old. The repertoire includes classical symphonic pieces and popular music, both a capella and with instruments.
