Transtango - 2010 U.K. Tour


Transtango combines some of the leading talents from the UK and Argentina to create a unique multidisciplinay performance. Centre stage are the musicians: Marcelo Nisinman regarded as one of the top bandoneon players today, Eduardo Vassallo - lead Cello at the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, legendary Jazz sax player Tim Garland and Sola Akingbola pecussionist for Jamiroquai. The band has been brought together to perform new compositions by both Tim Garland and Marcelo Nisinman as well as arrangements of classic Piazzolla pieces. The music is accompanied by a specially commissioned projection created by film-maker Adam Finch who regularly works with Isaac Julien.

Argentine pianist Marcela Roggeri will perform a solo concertas as part of the series "Pianists of the World" of St. Martin's in the Fields. The programme includes works by Chopin, Satie, Ginastera and Piazzolla among others. The event will be part of the Bicentenary Celebrations.
